Select Strategies
I select rotation model with station rotation. This model is a combination of small group instruction where I conference with each group for 20 minutes about their response to the story and focus on each student in the group individual needs. The other students will be working at their own individual pace with the assistant teacher monitoring and focusing on the technology standards in a small group.
Select Resources
Technology and Media. This lesson involves the introduction of materials and read aloud using the smart board. Students digital device will be an iPad with the app movie creator. Students will explore parts of media such as: camera, keyboard, and microphone to create their story.
The following guidelines help me assess the appropriateness of my technology and media selections:
Alignment with standards, outcomes, and objectives. The app movie creator allows students to identify and manipulate parts of a digital device for learning purposes. Students can use the app to create a story that identifies all of the literacy elements within the narrative.
Accurate and current information. Not applicable for the chosen technology and media.
Age-appropriate language. The software applications are written at a level appropriate for kindergarten students. However, students will receive support from both teacher and teacher assistant during rotation and small group.
Interest level and engagement. The iPad application allows students to use a variety of media tools to create their own narrative. Students are motivated by the ability to post and share their story with students in the classroom.
Technical quality. The software applications have superior technical quality.
Ease of use. The applications require initial training and periodic review of functions for students to easily use the features. Students will receive support from both the teacher and assistant teacher during small group instruction and conferencing.
Bias free. The software applications are bias free.
User guide and directions. The app directions are developmentally appropriate with visuals and simple swiping patterns.
