Subject Area: ELA
General Characteristics:
I have 22 students that are five years old in the classroom. 12 Students are female, and 12 students are male. Students come from a low income and rural area with minimal internet and technology for educational purposes in the home. I have 1 student with and academic IEP, one student with an RTI in progress for academics and behavior, and 2 students with a speech IEP. Currently no students are ESL. Most students show a high interest in school and are motivated by kinesthetic movement and visual aids.
Entry Competencies:
The students in general can do the following:
Learning Styles:
Students learn best from visual aids and modeling using technology and media. Using iPads has allowed students to tap into a variety of learning styles and creativity through making images, manipulating tools, and recording their voice. Students learn best when they have a variety of tools to develop a skill. Students are most motivated when they can save, share, and see their peers work online and in the classroom.

- Listen to oral directions within technology
- Use swiping/ tapping motions within technology
- Simple recordings
- Follow 2-3 step directions
- Take photographs and recordings
- Use arrow buttons
